Tensuke carries a large variety of fish cakes. We suggest you try making Japanese Oden Pot using fish cakes. (Oden is a Japanese winter dish consisting of several ingredients such as eggs, daikon radish, konnyaku, and fish cakes stewed in a light, soy-flavored dashi broth).
Himono is translated as “dried fish”. Fish are cut open, butterfly style, marinated in a saline solution and then left out to dry. This is a natural way to preserve the fish for a long time. The fish can then be frozen. You can buy the himono in our frozen section at Tensuke. To prepare this dried fish for a meal, boil it or bake it in the oven.

Statistics show that the Japanese have a high life expectancy and a very low rate of obesity. It is believed that diet plays an important role in this.
Do you know that eating Natto every morning is said to be one of the reasons Japanese people tend to live longer? Nattō is a traditional Japanese food made from fermented soybeans. It is a rich source of protein. For some, nattō can be an acquired taste due to its powerful smell, strong flavor, and sticky consistency. A nice Japanese breakfast might consist of natto, miso soup, rice, fish or egg, and seaweed. Natto can also be eaten as a highly nutritious snack.
Edamame is a preparation of baby soybeans in the pod, commonly found in Japan. The pods are boiled in salty water. The boiled soybean pods are usually served after cooling, but can also be served hot. The beans are consumed by using one's fingers and teeth to squeeze them out of the pod. The pod itself is then discarded. Edamame contains protein and omega-3 fatty acids. It's a delicious, healthy food for everyone.
